Early Childhood Educator Assistant (NOC 42202)

Location: 20381-66 Ave, Langley, BC V2Y 1P3, Canada

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $34.62 CAD per hour

Hours: 30-40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break, half-hour paid)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Language Requirement: English

About Us

Peregrine House School is a licensed full-day childcare center dedicated to the growth and development of children aged 1 to 6 years. We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive.

 

Job Responsibilities

Assist in developing and implementing childcare programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Lead engaging activities such as storytelling, music, art, and physical play.

Support children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.

Observe and document children's progress and identify potential learning or behavioral concerns.

Ensure compliance with Fraser Health Licensing Regulations.

Establish behavioral guidelines and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment for children.

Foster positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and community service providers.

Assess children's abilities, interests, and needs, discussing progress with parents and staff.

Maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and meal preparation.

Attend staff meetings to discuss children's development and any challenges.

Wear the Peregrine House School uniform daily, including both indoor and outdoor attire provided by the school.

Lead the second language program and assist with managerial tasks as needed.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: A college diploma is required.

Certification:

Valid Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) license.

AMI Montessori Certificate.

Valid First Aid Certificate.

Experience: Experience an asset, particularly in managerial roles.

Other Requirements:

Satisfactory criminal record check.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently.

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills

Assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to his needs; Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties; Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Maintain daycare equipment; Storytelling; Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents; Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest; Order supplies and equipment; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

 

Additional Skills

Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors; Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Knowledge of licensing regulations; Establish guidelines for behaviour; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children; Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
