Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll, and handling day-to-day accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and reconcile various financial accounts using QuickBooks Desktop, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Payroll Processing: Administer biweekly payroll using the Dayforce application, including regular pay, overtime, and special adjustments.
- Journal Entries & Reporting: Prepare and record monthly journal entries, handle prepaids, accruals, and assist in month-end reporting.
- Accounts Management: Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts, manage accounts receivable/payable, create purchase orders, and handle invoices.
- Statutory Calculations: Calculate employee contributions such as CPP, EI, WCB, and EHT, and prepare Records of Employment as required.
- Ad Hoc Tasks: Assist with employee benefits, support finance projects, and provide additional bookkeeping services as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Certificate or diploma from a recognized program (1-2 years) in Accounting or related field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in an accounting role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and other accounting software. Experience with payroll systems like Dayforce is an asset.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, organized, and a team player with effective time management skills.
